The 4th of July is right around the corner. Fireworks, backyard barbecues and maybe a trip to the beach. Whatever you have planned, SERVPRO of Oak Lawn wants you to enjoy your holiday and we have a few tips for you to be safe.
Fireworks
The safest way to enjoy fireworks is to attend a fireworks show put on by professionals in your local area. Make sure that you are at least 500 feet away from the show. Most states have outlawed fireworks but if you are in a state that allows them, make sure you follow some of these safety tips:
- Do not allow small children to light them and keep them away from any areas that people are using them
- Keep a supply of water close by.
- Be sure to store your fireworks in a cool place.
- Never throw or point fireworks toward people, animals vehicles, or homes.
Grilling
- Never leave a barbecue grill unattended.
- Do not use one indoors or any enclosed area.
- Keep pets and children away from grilling areas.
- Use long-handled tools made for grilling to keep hands safe.
